Allesley Park
The park was originally a deer park in the 12th century when it was first enclosed around the remains of a Norman 'Motte and Bailey' castle. The park which formed the grounds of Allesley Hall (now a residential home) enjoys a wealth of mature trees and shrubs and contains a walled garden, which is maintained as a Georgian kitchen garden by a local voluntary group. The walled garden is currently being restored to the days when it supplied fruit and vegetables for the hall's owners and servants. Walled garden volunteers organise educational events and activities in the garden to celebrate its history. |
This is a very large and beautiful park, ideal for walking the dog, kicking a football, or flying a kite. There are many surfaced paths that criss-cross the park to walk along and take in the sights.
